MEDICAI

DEPARTMENT

in charge of the Government Civil Hospital of much of the administrative detail which he is at present

compelled to perform in addition to the heavy

responsibilities of his professional work, the Acting Director of Medical and Sanitary Services, Dr. W.B.A. Hoore, has recommended the early appointment of a

European officer with headquarters in the Government

Civil Hospital. Such an officer would be responsible under the liedical Officer for the ordering and issue of stores, the control of expenditure, the proper supervision of the receipt of money, the

classification of patients for purposes of payment of fees, the arrangements for the comfort and well being of patients, and the general supervision of the administration of the hospital. We consider that the

appointment of responsible and competent officer to such a post would not only result in an economy of Government funds but would also help to prevent abuses. Under existing conditions it is not possible to provide that effective supervision which is necessary.
